Hyperkeratosis

In cases where hyperkeratosis is the main finding, look for the following:

Cornified cysts, indicating mainly seborrheic keratosis[1]

Dysplasia and/or atypia
If suspected, also look for:

Papillomatous protrusions, indicating mainly squamous papilloma.[2]

Parakeratosis indicating mainly actinic keratosis (pictured), or if dysplasia covers all epidermal layers on skin: Squamous-cell carcinoma of the skin
